Home

Thank you for visiting our website, which is under construction.

The Slomo and Cindy Silvian Foundation, Inc. was created by the late Cindy Silvian. Mr. and Mrs. Silvian were distinguished citizens of Long Beach, New York. They were well known and respected for their friendship, their business leadership, their civic mindedness and their philanthropy.

Mr. Silvian passed away in May, 2001. Mrs. Silvian passed away in November, 2007. Mrs. Silvian funded the Slomo and Cindy Silvian Foundation, Inc. with a generous bequest in her will. The Foundation began making grants in 2008.

The Foundation makes grants to organizations that fulfill one or more of the following purposes -- Education, Children's Welfare, Medical Care, Medical Research and Jewish Philanthropic Endeavors. Each grant recipient must be tax exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3, and must also be an organization described in Internal Revenue Code Sections 509 (a)1 or  509 (a)2. Application for a Slomo and Cindy Silvian Foundation grant is by invitation only. Unsolicited grant applications are not considered. Please note that we do not make grants to foreign organizations through United States fiscal intermediaries. Foreign organizations that wish to be considered for a grant must be registered with the US Internal Revenue Service.

If your organization meets the above criteria and it wishes to learn more about our grant making process, please send an e-mail to
mail@silvianfoundation.org by March 30, 2012, providing the following information: (1) your organization's name, its street address and its mailing address; (2) your organization's United States federal tax ID number; (3) the name of your organization's contact person and that person's e-mail address and phone number; (4) the address of your organization's website, if it has one; (5) the year in which your organization was founded; (6) a brief statement of your organization's mission; and (7) a pdf attachment of your organization's most recent IRS tax exempt status letter. Items (1) through (6) should not exceed one page. E-mails received after March 30, 2012, may not be considered.

If, after receipt of your e-mail by March 30, 2012, the Foundation's staff determines that your organization might be an appropriate candidate for further participation in the Foundation's grant application process, we will contact your organization by letter or by e-mail during May, 2012. If we send you such a letter or e-mail, we will include additional information about the Foundation's grant application process. We will also seek certain information from you at that time to help our board of directors decide whether your organization will be invited to apply for a grant.  Our request for that information is not an invitation to apply for a grant.

If your organization is invited to apply for Slomo and Cindy Silvian Foundation, Inc. grant, the invitation is not a commitment by the Foundation to make a grant. Grants are made solely in the discretion of the Foundation's board of directors after review of a complete application package.

Nothing contained on this website and no oral communications from any Foundation staff member, officer or director should be considered an invitation to apply for a grant or a commitment by the Foundation to make a grant. The Foundation issues invitations to apply and grant notifications only by letter or e-mail signed by an authorized officer of the Foundation.
